PA 66:


PA 66 is Polyacrylonitrile and it's a type of high-purity acrylic polymer. It has properties such as low viscosity, thermal stability, chemical resistance and optical clarity. PA 66 is used in the production of UHPM (Ultra High Purity Materials) by using defoaming agents such as sodium tetradecyl sulphate (Sts), polyoxyethylene ethers or other non-foaming surfactants.

The oil & gas industry is one of the largest consumers of ultra-high purity materials. Ultra-high purity products are used in drilling fluids as they reduce friction and wear between drill bit and shale wall thus increasing drilling speed. Drilling fluid containing UHPMA is also being used in hydraulic fracturing operations to enable enhanced permeability for extraction of hydrocarbons owing to its high viscosity index which prevents the migration of chemicals from fractures during production.


Water system manufacturers are increasingly using UHPMA due to its properties such as high strength corrosion resistance which enables it be used in components that come into contact with water such as filters, storage tanks etc.
