The market growth is attributed to the increasing demand for veterinary infusion rate monitors in pet hospitals, veterinary stations, and other applications. In addition, the growing awareness about animal health and rising adoption of pets are also contributing to the growth of the global veterinary infusion rate monitor market. Based on type, the global Veterinary Infusion Rate Monitor Market can be segmented into plug-in and battery-operated types. The plug-in type is expected to hold a larger share of the market during the forecast period owing to its easy installation and use. Based on application, the Veterinary Infusion Rate Monitor Market can be segmented into pet hospitals, veterinary stations, research institutes & laboratories, zoos & safari parks,,and others (including military).
Product Definition:
A veterinary infusion rate monitor is a device used to measure the rate of fluid flow into or out of a patient's body. This can be done through the use of an intravenous (IV) catheter, which is inserted into a vein, or an intra-arterial (IA) catheter, which is inserted into an artery. The Veterinary Infusion Rate Monitor calculates and displays how many milliliters (mL) of fluid are being infused per minute. This information can help veterinarians adjust the flow rate as needed in order to ensure that their patients receive the correct dosage of medication or treatment.
Plug-in:
Plug-in infusion rate monitor is a device used to measure the rate and amount of fluid given into a patient through an intravenous line. It consists of two parts, namely the container part and the cannula part. The container has got a capacity to hold specific amount of fluid, which can be read by looking at its level in the liquid chamber as compared to that of cannula.
Battery-operated:
Battery-operated infusion rate monitor is a device used to measure the rate and amount of fluid given by an IV drip. It consists of a battery-powered alarm that goes off when the prescribed amount of fluid has been given. The time it takes for this alarm to go off indicates how long the medicine should be administered every day. Battery operated infusion rate monitors are also known as drip pumps, volumetric pumps, or flow meters depending upon manufacturer and usage.
Application Insights:
Based on the application, the market is segmented into pet hospitals, veterinary stations and others. The pet hospitals segment dominated the global market in 2017 owing to increasing number of animal patients and their rising healthcare needs. Moreover, an increase in expenditure by owners on treatment of sick animals is expected to drive demand for IVRMs over the forecast period.
The veterinary stations segment is expected to witness significant growth during the study period owing to growing awareness among farmers about providing better care for animals that they raise.
Regional Analysis:
North America dominated the global market in 2017. This can be attributed to increasing pet adoption, high veterinary healthcare expenditure and favorable reimbursement policies for infusion rates set by insurance providers. The region is expected to maintain its dominance throughout the forecast period owing to factors such as growing awareness among pet owners regarding advanced treatments and products, technological advancements in monitoring systems, increased investment by manufacturers in R&D of new devices and an increase in demand for low-cost treatment options.
Asia Pacific is anticipated to witness lucrative growth over the forecast period owing to rising disposable income resulting from economic development coupled with a rise in consumer preference towards luxury items such as pets due their companionship and loyalty qualities. Rising incidence of chronic diseases among animals is also propelling market growth due to an increase demand for better animal health care facilities along with better infrastructure & services leading toward higher patient admission rates at clinics/ hospitals; this will drive product adoption over the next eight years.
Growth Factors:
- Increasing demand for animal-derived food products is expected to drive the veterinary infusion rate monitor market growth over the forecast period.
- Rising awareness about animal health and increasing adoption of pets are some other factors that are anticipated to fuel the market growth.
- Growing number of veterinary clinics and hospitals is also projected to propel the market expansion during the forecast period.
- Technological advancements in infusion rate monitors is another key factor that is estimated to boost this market in forthcoming years. 5 Emerging countries such as China, India, Brazil, and Mexico offer lucrative opportunities for players operating in this market owing to rising disposable income of consumers coupled with growing demand for better healthcare facilities
