Water-jet cutting heads are used in water jet machining to direct a high-pressure stream of water at a workpiece. The water is ejected from the nozzle at speeds up to Mach 3, and can cut through materials such as metal, stone, and glass.

2D:


2D is a method of cutting material where the sheet metal is moved at a constant distance from the cutting head. The material being cut remains in contact with the moving metal and does not move out of line as it would in 1D or 3D systems. In 2D, only one side of the sheet is cut at a time; whereas, in 1D or 3D systems both sides are simultaneously cut by using multiple blades to form multiple cuts on both sides of the piece simultaneously.
