Synthetic Type:
Synthetic type is a manufactured form of graphite. It can be used as an alternative to natural graphite in applications such as lubricants, paints and coatings, adhesives and sealants, printing inks, cosmetics, rubber processing industries. Synthetic type has almost the same chemical properties like natural graphite but it is produced artificially by heating synthetic raw materials such as coal tar or petroleum products at high temperatures.

The batteries segment dominated the global market in 2017. The product is used as anodes in lead-acid, nickel-metal hydride and lithium ion batteries. Natural granular graphite is preferred for use as anode material in lead acid battery due to its high capacity retention ability. It can also be used as a replacement for conventional carbon steel plates because it provides longer life and better performance at a lower cost per kwhr of energy storage.
Carbon brush is another significant application of the product worldwide owing to its superior characteristics such as abrasion resistance, thermal stability, low friction coefficient and electrical conductivity which make it suitable for manufacturing high pressure/temperature industrial gas turbines & heat transfer equipment among other applications such as abrasive wheels for metal cutting machines & glass grinding mills among others.
