The basic function of piston is to transfer the energy from fuel into mechanical work which can be done by using steam or air as a working fluid.


Positive-displacement pumps are used to move fluid at a constant flow rate and the direction. The positive displacement pump has two main components, namely, impeller and suction valve. As the name suggests, positive-displacement pumps have an advantage over their counterparts as they work by creating a vacuum to draw the fluid through the system rather than pushing it like negative-displacement pumps.
