Helical Serrated Finned Tubes are tubes that have a helical groove around the circumference of the tube. This groove allows for a serrated fin to be placed in the groove. This makes Helical Serrated Finned Tubes ideal for use in applications where high temperatures need to be dissipated.
Single Metal Finned Tubes:
Single metal finned tubes are used in serrated helical-finsned tubes. They are manufactured by deposition of single metal on the surface of a cylindrical tube. The process is carried out in two steps, firstly annealing and secondly hot isostatic pressing (HIP). In annealing, the tube is heated to its softening temperature which makes it malleable; after that it's pressed into a cylinder shape with the help of hydraulic press.
Bimetal Composite Finned Tubes:
BMCF is a new material developed by the researchers of Korea Institute of Science and Technology. It consists of two metals, namely aluminum and copper, which are bonded together by an organic linker molecule. The BMCF tubes have applications in gas sensing owing to their unique property that changes its shape when exposed to different gases.
The research on bimetric composite tubes started in 2010 at Korea Institute of Science.
