Market Overview:

The global high strength concrete market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.5% during the forecast period from 2018 to 2030. The market growth can be attributed to the increasing demand for high strength concrete in various applications such as architectural, infrastructure, and others. Additionally, the growing construction industry in emerging economies is also propelling the growth of the global high strength concrete market.

Global High Strength Concrete Industry Outlook

Product Definition:

High Strength Concrete is concrete with a compressive strength greater than 4000 psi (27.6 MPa). It is used in applications where high strength and durability are required, such as bridge decks, parking garages, and precast products.

C60-C80:

C60-C80 is a group of polymeric alloys containing 60-80% by weight of carbon. It has high tensile strength and flexural modulus as compared to other engineering thermoplastics. C60-C80 polymers are used in the production of concrete admixtures, which are further utilized in the formulation of high strength concrete (HSC).

C80-C100:

C80-C100 is a high strength cement, which contains 80% of Cement and 100% of water. It has the ability to provide higher strength as compared to conventional cements such as Portland cement. The product also provides faster setting time and better durability with less wastage than other high strength concretes available in the market.

Application Insights:

The architectural application segment accounted for the largest share of 60.0% in 2017. The product is widely used in residential, commercial and civil infrastructure applications owing to its high strength and durability. It is also lightweight, which reduces the structural weight of a building thereby reducing energy consumption during construction activities. Furthermore, it can be molded into different shapes including square, hexagon and circle making it suitable for use in architectural designs as well as decoration purposes at building facades or interiors.

High-strength concrete has been witnessing growing demand from various industries including automotive & transportation (road), manufacturing (factories) due to its properties such as load-bearing capacity up to 12000 kg/m3 density ratio along with good resistance against corrosion & abrasion when exposed to aggressive environments such as chemical spillage or marine environment with saltwater spray containing silica sand particles etc.

Regional Analysis:

Asia Pacific was the largest regional market in 2017 and is expected to continue its dominance over the forecast period. The region accounted for a share of more than 30% of global high strength concrete production in 2017. China, India, Japan, South Korea and Australia are some of the major countries contributing to regional growth. Increasing construction activities due to growing population coupled with government initiatives encouraging private investments are likely to drive product demand over the next eight years.

North America is projected to be one of fastest-growing regions during the forecast period owing to increasing infrastructure spending by governments as well as private companies across U.S., Canada and Mexico on account roadways network expansion along with other commercial projects such as shopping malls, offices buildings etc.

The Middle East & Africa (MEA) market has huge potential for development on account rising construction activities especially in UAE; Saudi Arabia; Qatar; Egypt.

Growth Factors:

  • Increasing demand for high-strength concrete in the construction industry for projects such as bridges, dams, and skyscrapers.
  • Rising awareness about the benefits of using high-strength concrete among architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Growing use of fiber reinforcement in high-strength concrete to improve its strength and durability.
  • Technological advancements that have led to the development of new types of high-strength concrete mixes with improved properties.
  • The increasing popularity of precast concrete products that are manufactured using high-strength concretes
