Product Definition:
A hot-wire anemometer is a device used to measure air velocity. They are often used in HVAC systems to measure the speed of air flow.
Side Heating Type:
Side heating type anemometers are used to measure the wind speed and direction in side-facing configuration. The device consists of a heated filament that is attracted by the wind, caused by its thermal radiation. It has two advantages over front-facing devices; it does not require any support structure and can be made very small (down to submillimeter size) due to which they are preferred for measuring winds from high altitudes where there is less air turbulence.
Direct Heating Type:
Direct heating type anemometers are used to measure the wind speed directly. The mechanism of direct heating type anemometer is very simple, it consists of a heated wire which is wound around a metal or wooden stake and as the name suggests it measures the speed of wind indirectly by sensing temperature differences between warm air and cold air.
