Product Definition:

Propane:
Propane, also known as propylene or Iso-butane, is a hydrocarbon refrigerant with the formula (CH3)3CH2OH. It is produced as a byproduct of natural gas and petroleum refining processes. In terms of global consumption, it accounts for approximately 4% of the total HFC consumption followed by Freon 12 and 13 CF3 respectively.
Isobutane:
Isobutane is a colorless and highly flammable gas. It has a strong odor similar to gasoline. Isobutane is used as the refrigerant in propane-based HCR systems due to its low cost, high heat of vaporization, and easy handling characteristics.
It can be produced by several methods including the catalytic cracking of butanes or by fractional distillation (a process where it is obtained as an intermediate product).
