A hydrogen-cooled turbine generator set (HTCGS) is a power generation system that uses hydrogen as the primary coolant to transfer heat away from the turbine blades and into the atmosphere. 500 MVA is the maximum power that can be delivered by a single-phase AC transmission system. It is used as an upper limit for determining the capacity of HCTG systems. The 500 MVA factor has been applied to determine the maximum size of generators that can be cooled by a GTG with a given set of transformers and switchgear.


500-600 MVA:


500-600 MVA is the power rating of a Hydrogen-Cooled Turbine (HCT) generator set. It is used to represent the maximum power output capacity of HCT sets that are based on gas turbines and use hydrogen as an energy source. The 500-600 MVA range was initially introduced for representing HCT generator sets with a total installed capacity between 50 MW and 200 MW, which were operating at full load in normal conditions.
