DExtrose 5 is produced from rice or wheat starch and has less sweetening power compared to other types of maltodextrins.

DE-5 is a low-methoxylated maltodextrin used as a thickening, stabilizing and sweetening agent in food & beverage applications. It has high amylose content which makes it highly resistant to hydrolysis by pancreatic proteases thus resulting in minimum change in viscosity on digestion.
