Market Overview:
The global mass flow regulators market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.5% during the forecast period from 2018 to 2030. The market growth can be attributed to the increasing demand for mass flow controllers in various industries such as chemical, petroleum, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals and other industries. In addition, the growing demand for miniaturized and portable devices is also contributing to the growth of this market. Based on type, the global mass flow regulators market can be segmented into direct type and indirect type. The direct type segment is expected to hold a major share of the global mass flow regulators market during the forecast period owing to its high accuracy and repeatability. Based on application, the chemical industry is expected to hold a major share of the global mass flow controllers market duringthe forecast period owingtoits growing demand from various end-use industries such as pharmaceuticals, food & beverage processing and others.
Product Definition:
A mass flow regulator (MFR) is a device used to control the mass flow rate of a fluid flowing through a system. The main purpose of an MFR is to maintain a constant mass flow rate regardless of the upstream or downstream pressure variations. This is important because it allows for accurate and repeatable dosing of fluids, which is necessary in many industrial and laboratory applications.
Direct Type:
Direct type flow meters are used to measure the mass or volume of fluid. They have a simple structure and work on the principle of Archimedes’s law, which states that any object submerged under water will rise to the level of water surface above it. These meters can be used for measuring liquids as well as gases. Direct type flow meter is an ideal instrument for industrial applications where accuracy is not so much important and only basic flow rate measurement is required.
Indirect Type:
Indirect type is a flow measuring device that indirectly measures the mass or volume of fluid. It works on the principle of Archimedes’ law which states that, “any object in motion continues to generate momentum until some external force is applied to it”. In other words, an indirect type instrument does not measure the mass or volume directly but rather measures the rate at which a substance is moving through a container by observing its displacement and/or level.
Application Insights:
The global market is segmented by application into chemical, petroleum, metallurgy and pharmaceutical industries. The other application segment includes food & beverages and water treatment industry. In 2017, the chemical industry accounted for the largest share in terms of demand as well as production of mass flow regulators across various regions including North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
In terms of demand for chemicals produced using this technology globally increased from around 2010 to 2015 due to growing awareness among end-users regarding environmental protection coupled with pressure on manufacturers to reduce energy consumption during manufacturing processes. This factor has led to an increase in R&D activities pertaining to new technologies that can reduce energy consumption during manufacturing processes without compromising on quality or safety standards which is expected fuel product demand over the forecast period.
Regional Analysis:
North America dominated the global market in 2017 owing to the presence of major industry participants and well-established industrial sector. The region is expected to maintain its dominance over the forecast period, with a few emerging countries from other regions making significant progress in their industries. For instance, Brazil has made remarkable progress in petroleum exploration activities since 2014 and currently holds more than 20% of offshore oil reserves across the world. This factor is anticipated to boost regional growth during the forecast period.
Asia Pacific also presents lucrative opportunities for mass flow regulators manufacturers as several developing countries are investing aggressively in this sector due to increasing demand from chemical, metallurgy and pharmaceutical industries at a domestic level coupled with growing exports globally. China emerged as one of largest consumers for these products owing to rapid industrialization along with advancements witnessed by Chinese government towards economic development through massive investments on infrastructural developments including transport networks across various cities such as Shanghai Pudong New Area & Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
Growth Factors:
- Increasing demand for mass flow controllers in various industries such as semiconductor, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology is driving the growth of the market.
- Growing popularity of miniaturized mass flow controllers is another major factor propelling the growth of this market.
- Rising demand for MFCs with high accuracy and repeatability is also contributing to the growth of this market.
- The increasing use of MFCs in research and development activities is fueling the growth of this market significantly. 5) Technological advancements in MFC technology are providing new opportunities for players operating in this market
