Nitrile rubber (NBR) is a synthetic rubber copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiene. It is a type of elastomer. NBR has good resistance to oil, fuel and solvent; low gas permeability; good abrasion resistance; and fair tensile strength. It is widely used in the automotive industry for hoses, belts, gaskets, O-rings and other parts subjected to repeated flexing or exposure to oils and fuels.

The particles/crumb are made from fine rubber powder, which is added to the base stock of NBR to enhance its performance under cold conditions.
