Product Definition:
Nicosulfuron (trade name Accent) is an herbicide of the sulfonylurea class. It inhibits the production of acetolactate synthase, blocking the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids essential for plant growth. Nicosulfuron is used to control a broad spectrum of annual and perennial weeds including yellow nutsedge, purple nutsedge, kyllinga, and many others in corn (field and sweet), sorghum, rice,, pasture, rangeland,, rights-of way,, gardens,, ornamental turfgrass areas,.
Amide Method:
Amide method is a cost-effective and convenient way to synthesize heterocyclic compounds. It involves the reaction of amines with sulfonyl halides. The most commonly used reagents for this process include imidazolium salts such as 1,4-dihydrazolium,1,4-thiazolium bromide and 2,6-dimethylpyridinium bromide.
Niacin Method:
Niacin (Vitamin B3) is a water-soluble vitamin required by the body to manufacture red blood cells and support proper nerve function. It can be obtained through diet or supplementation. The method used for manufacturing niacin is called the niacin method and it involves two key steps; nicotinic acid production and conversion to N-Nicotinoylglutamine (NNG).
Application Insights:
Rice was the largest application segment in 2017 and is expected to witness a CAGR of XX% over the forecast period. Nicosulfuron amide method is one of the most preferred methods for rice blast management as it provides higher yield and better quality than other methods used till date. Corn followed by rice is likely to be the second-largest application segment owing to its high demand from food & feed industry, which has been growing at a significant rate since past few years.
