Chloroacetic acid (CHA) method is a one-step, quantitative conversion process for nitrile rubber. It can be used as an alternative to the TEMPO/NOCOCHCOH method for determining the content of nitrile rubber in samples. The major application of this process is in determining the content of chloroprene and styrene butadiene and acrylonitrile in polymer samples.
Strygger Method:
Strygger method is a procedure to prepare N-nitroso-l-toluene (NTTO) which is used in the synthesis of nitrilotriacetic acid. Strygger reaction involves the addition of hydroxylammonium chloride and sodium carbonate to nitritoic acid, followed by heating at reflux for 4 hours. The mixture obtained after this process is called as a solution and can be used for further reactions.
