The colorimetric method is used to measure the concentration of a substance in solution by observing the change in the appearance of a solution. The most common way to perform this test is with an infrared (IR) spectrophotometer, which uses light from an LED or incandescent source that is absorbed by the sample and then emitted back into the spectrum.


This process allows for easy measurement even at high concentrations as long as there are no significant interactions between substances being measured.


Ion-selective Electrodes (ISE):


Ion-selective electrodes (ISE) are used in online ammonia analyzers for the detection of Ammonia (NH3) gas. They are made from materials such as platinum and ruthenium, which have high ion selectivity.
