Organophosphate insecticides are a class of insecticides that share a common chemical structure. They are effective against a wide range of pests, including insects, spiders, mites, and ticks. Organophosphate insecticides work by disrupting the nerve function of the pests. This causes them to become paralyzed and eventually die.
Parathion:
Parathion, also known as O-Phosphonoethyl phosphonate or P-Ethanol is an organophosphate insecticide. It is a colorless and highly water soluble liquid with a strong odor. Parathion is used to control the population of insects in various crops including cotton, rice, wheat, maize and vegetables like tomato & pepper.
Methyl Parathion:
Methyl parathion is an organophosphate insecticide. It was first registered by Bayer in 1965 and is now one of the most commonly used pesticides in the world. The product works by inhibiting cholinesterase, an enzyme that breaks down nerve signals between nerves.
