Product Definition:
Particle Grade ZnO is a high-purity form of zinc oxide used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications. Particle Grade ZnO is also relatively non-toxic, making it safe for use in a wide range of products.
Direct Method:
The direct method is a continuous process of production, which involves the reduction of nitric acid and hydrogen gas to produce insoluble compounds. The product obtained after this reaction is then treated with alkali earth metals such as calcium or sodium for the precipitation of metal oxides. These metal oxide particles are used in various end-use industries such as paints & coatings, chemicals, plastics & rubber processing and ceramics among others.
Indirect Method:
The indirect method is used to measure the particle size of ZnO. It is a procedure where the particle size distribution is estimated from X-ray diffraction data and compared with a standard curve which gives an idea about the range and standard deviation of sizes in particles.
Application Insights:
Rubber application segment led the global particle grade zinc oxide market in 2017 and is projected to witness significant growth over the forecast period. The product is used as a reinforcement filler in tires, owing to its high resistance against heat and chemicals. It also has good abrasion properties, which make it suitable for tire applications such as rainwater drainage and snow removal.
