Short wave passive infrared sensors are a new class of sensor technology that uses the principle of thermopile to detect objects in the night. Thermopiles are made up of three components namely an emissive layer, a substrate and an optical fiber which is heated to its operating temperature. As soon as any object comes near this sensor, it generates heat which causes the optical fiber to expand and contract due to variations in its temperature thus generating an electrical signal.
Mid Wave Passive Infrared Sensors:
The mid wave passive infrared sensors are used in passive infrared sensors market. It is a type of sensor that measures the radiant energy from the IR source and converts into electrical signals. The major applications of MWIR sensors are for military & defense, automotive, industrial process control, security surveillance systems and consumer electronics among others.
