Phosphotungstic acid, also known as PTA or just tungsten trioxide, is a chemical compound of the heavier element tungsten with the formula WO 3. It is a white solid and has no odor. The molecular form of phosphotungstic acid consists of three molecules WO 3 which are connected by two oxygen anions (PO 4) and one tungsten cation (W3+).

Phosphotungstic acid is used as a catalyst in organic reactions such as Diels-Alder reaction, which involves the construction of carbon-carbon bonds.
