Solid Hub Couplings:


Solid hub couplings are used to connect the propeller shafts in a reciprocating engine-driven vehicle. The coupling consists of an outer race that is pressed into the end of one shaft and an inner race that is pressed into the end of another. There are two types of couplings namely interconnecting type and splined type.


Split Hub Couplings:


The split hub couplings are used in propeller shafts to connect the main shaft and the gearbox. The coupling consists of a female spline that is inserted into a male splined hub, which is then connected with two fasteners.


These couplings are manufactured using high strength steel and have an average life span of around 6-8 years, depending on usage and maintenance.
