This pressure helps to apply the brakes faster and with more force, which improves stopping power. In an electric brake assist system, the pump is used to create vacuum in the braking system. This vacuum helps to apply the brakes faster and with more force, which again improves stopping power.


Electric Type:


Electric type is used in pumps for the BAS system. It's a mechanical device that creates an electrical signal to act as a trigger for the brake application. The pump sends this signal to the master cylinder, which applies brakes automatically when needed.


The electric type has two major components namely, motor and sensor or switch.


Mechanical Type:


The mechanical type is used in the pumps that are installed in the brake assist system of vehicles. The BAS is a safety feature, which helps to reduce braking force applied to the tires by reducing wheel speed. It works as an anti-lock braking system and requires sensors for monitoring wheel speed and applying brake accordingly.


BAS uses two separate circuits one for each tire; however, it can be implemented with only one circuit if desired (a single-circuit BAS).
