A radial piston pump is a type of positive displacement pump that uses pistons to create pressure. The design consists of two cylinders, one inside the other with an open space in between them. A rod connects both ends and moves back and forth as it rotates around its axis; this movement creates suction on one side while pushing fluid out from the opposite end at high speed through small holes or slits cut into each cylinder wall near their connection point (see diagram).
