Product Definition:


A Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer is a type of valve used to protect drinking water supplies from contamination by backflow. It is adevice that uses two spring-loaded check valves, one in the upstream piping and one in the downstream piping, which are held closed by a differential pressure across them. If backpressure or backsiphonage occurs, the differential pressure opens at least one of the check valves and allows water to flow in only one direction.
