Market Overview:
The global small-scale liquefaction market is expected to grow at a CAGR of XX% during the forecast period from 2018 to 2030. The market growth can be attributed to the increasing demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a fuel source and the growing popularity of small-scale liquefaction plants. The global small-scale liquefaction market can be segmented on the basis of type, application, and region. On the basis of type, the market can be divided into direct liquefaction and indirect Liquefaction. Direct Liquefaction is further sub-segmented into modular plants and truck mounted plants. Indirect LiquefACTION is further sub-segmented into fixed bed reactors and fluidized bed reactors. On the basis of application, the market can be classified into roadways, bunkering, power industry, and other applications such as chemicals & petrochemicals processing etc.).On the basisof region, themarketcanbe segmentedin North America,, Europe,, Asia Pacific,, Middle East & Africa).
Product Definition:
Small-scale liquefaction is the process of transforming a solid material into a liquid one through the application of heat and pressure. This can be done on a small scale, such as in a laboratory setting, or on a larger scale, such as in an industrial plant. The importance of small-scale liquefaction lies in its ability to produce materials that are otherwise difficult to create or obtain. It can also be used to improve the properties of existing materials.
Direct Liquefaction:
Direct liquefaction is a process of producing LPG which involves the liquefaction of propane or butane gas into liquid form at atmospheric pressure and temperature. It is also known as atmospheric distillation since it's similar to traditional distillation in that both processes involve the vaporization of volatile components under reduced pressure and high temperature conditions.
Indirect Liquefaction:
Indirect liquefaction is a process in which the feedstock is heated to temperatures above its solidification point, but below its melting point. The molten stream thus obtained is allowed to cool and solidify, and then the resulting solid mass (liquefied) can be drawn off for further processing.
Application Insights:
The roadways application segment led the global small-scale liquefaction market in 2017. The segment is projected to expand at a CAGR of XX% over the forecast period owing to rising demand for asphalt and concrete from various applications, including roads, highways, car parking lots and bridges. Furthermore, increasing government spending on infrastructure development across various regions is expected to propel industry growth over the coming years.
Roads are one of the vital components in any country¢â‚¬â„¢s transportation system as they connect different parts of a country together via highways and arterial roads leading into towns and cities where passengers or cargo need transport by road. As such, there is an increased demand for these liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks along with railways that haul LNG trains from suppliers' facilities to buyers' sites as it reduces fuel costs while transporting goods by rail compared with trucks or ships that carry liquid petroleum products (LPG).
Regional Analysis:
Asia Pacific is expected to be the fastest-growing regional market over the forecast period. The growth of this region is attributed to increasing government investments in infrastructure development projects, which has led to a rise in demand for construction materials such as asphalt and diesel. In addition, growing industrialization across countries such as China and India will drive product demand further.
The Middle East & Africa was one of the largest regional markets owing to large oil reserves present across countries including Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. However, since 2014 when prices for crude oil began declining, small-scale plants have been shutting down due to lack of funds or low crude oil prices making it unprofitable for them operate at a loss thus affecting overall industry growth in this region negatively.
Growth Factors:
- Increasing demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the transportation and power generation sectors
- Rising global population and economic growth, which is resulting in increased energy demand
- Proliferation of LNG-powered vessels and vehicles
- Stringent environmental regulations governing emissions from traditional fuel sources such as coal-fired power plants
- Technological advancements that are making small-scale liquefaction more efficient and cost effective
