DC pumps are used to move liquids in the absence of a mechanical device. The prime function of DC pump is to transfer electrical energy from one point to another through the liquid without any external assistance. It works on two basic principles, namely; moving electric charge and creating a vacuum between two electrodes which causes fluid movement.
It’s working principle is similar as that of reciprocating engines i.e.
Alternate Current (AC) Pumps:
Solar-powered water pumps are used to move fluid in the absence of direct sunlight. These devices use an alternate current (AC) for power which can be obtained from a solar panel, battery or from the grid. The AC pump is driven by an impeller which is mounted on a moving body such as a rotor or turbine and uses the momentum of this movement to generate energy that then drives another mechanism to do work.
