The NASICON is a new electrolyte solution based on carbon nanotube-based anion and cation exchange membranes. It was developed by the National University of Singapore (NUS) in collaboration with the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and published in Nanoscale Journal in 2015. The research was supported by funding bodies including the Research Council of Norway through its Innovative Technology Program (ITP).

The others segment includes H2, N2, Ar, He and Ne. The demand for these gases in the electrolyte is less compared to the other two gases mentioned above due to which they are not used as a raw material but only as an additive gas in EESGs. However, their consumption is increasing with time owing to their rising applications such as CO2 capture and storage along with SO2 and NOx reduction at power plants.
