The term “continuous” in the name refers to their ability to generate a beam without any noticeable pulse; i.e., they can produce an uninterrupted stream of light similar to that produced by conventional gas-discharge lamps but with much higher peak power.


Pulsed Solid State Lasers:


Pulsed Solid State Lasers (PSSL) is a new generation of solid-state lasers, which deliver high power in short pulses. PSSLs are based on novel crystal designs that allow for higher output with less energy consumption and low coherence length. The technology has been under development by various research institutes worldwide since the early 2000s, but only recently have manufacturers begun to commercialize it.
