Solid State Transformers (SST) are a type of transformer where the primary and secondary windings are printed on a single substrate. The use of SST's can help to reduce losses, improve efficiency, and save space.


Single-stage:


Single-stage is a transformer with primary voltage of typically 33 kVAC to 400 kVAC and no additional stages for increasing output voltage. It is also known as stage-less or single-stage Transformer. Two-stage:


The two-stage technology is used in solid state transformers (SST) to increase the switching frequency and efficiency. The SSTs are fabricated using silicon semiconductor materials, such as germanium or silicon carbide. The basic components of an SST include a power supply, control circuitry, transformer core made up of ferromagnetic material and conductive material windings that create an electrical circuit through which current can flow.
