Product Definition:
Solvent-grade mixed xylenes are a blend of three isomeric xylene compounds: ortho-xylene, para-xylene, and meta-xylene. Mixed xylenes are used as solvents in various applications, including paints and coatings, adhesives and sealants, printing inks and coatings, plastics processing additives, and other specialty chemicals.
Solvent Grade:
Solvent-grade mixed xylenes (SGMX) are a group of thermoplastic polymers comprising of 50% by volume or more of the copolymerized product Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) and Polyoxypropylene (POP). SGMX is produced by reacting hexane-1,4-diisocyanate with POP in presence solvent. The reaction takes place at atmospheric pressure and temperature.
Isomer Grade:
Isomer grade is a mixture of isomers, which are derived from the same feedstock but processed in different ways to produce different products. The most commonly used feedstock for producing mixed xylenes (MX) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) isomer grades are n-butane and benzene.
