Market Overview:
The global Trichoderma viride market is expected to grow at a CAGR of XX% during the forecast period from 2018 to 2030. The growth in the market can be attributed to the increasing demand for organic food products and rising awareness about the benefits of using Trichoderma viride in agriculture. The global Trichoderma viride market is segmented on the basis of type, application, and region. On the basis of type, it is divided into liquid and solid. On the basis of application, it is classified into cereals and grains, fruits and vegetables, oilseeds and pulses, others (including dairy products & meat processing). Region-wise, it is analyzed across North America (U.S., Canada), Latin America (Mexico), Europe (Germany France Italy Spain U.K.), Asia Pacific (China Japan India South Korea Australia New Zealand), Middle East & Africa(GCC Countries Turkey Iran Israel South Africa).
Product Definition:
Trichoderma viride is a filamentous fungus that grows as white mycelium and produces conidia on aerial hyphae. It is an opportunistic pathogen of plants, causing soft rot and stem canker diseases. T. viride is also a common inhabitant of the soil, where it contributes to the degradation of plant material and plays a role in nutrient cycling.
Liquid:
Liquid is a natural product and it's used as an internal substitute for the secretion of enzymes by fungi. It is also used in agriculture to increase the yield of crops. The liquid extracted from mycelium has been found to have properties such as antibiotic, anti-cancer, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory which can be beneficial for humans too. This liquid contains many bioactive compounds like proteins & nucleotides that are responsible for its health benefits.
Solid:
Trichoderma harzianum, better known as the green mold or the mycorrhizal fungus, is a basidiomycete plant pathogen. It parasitizes several plants and causes them to die by producing spores on their leaves. The most commonly affected host species include birch, poplar, willow and elm trees; but it also attacks a number of other angiosperms such as rhododendron and azalea.
Application Insights:
Cereals and grains was the largest application segment in the global trichoderma viride market, accounting for over 60% of total demand in 2017. The product has been traditionally used as a fungicide and is also known to have anti-nutritional properties making it unusable by crops. This makes it an ideal choice for use on farms where food security is an important issue and crop yield is of paramount importance.
Fruits and vegetables are expected to emerge as the fastest growing segment over the forecast period owing to increasing awareness among consumers regarding healthy eating habits coupled with rising disposable income levels in developing regions such as Asia Pacific. Trichoderma fungi are considered beneficial elements on farms since they help reduce damage from pests that attack plants including aphids, mites, caterpillars etc., while also enhancing plant growth through increased nutrient uptake from soil.
Regional Analysis:
Asia Pacific dominated the global market in 2017 and is expected to continue its dominance over the forecast period. The region is anticipated to witness a CAGR of XX% from 2018 to 2030 owing to increasing demand for trichoderma-hormone producing products from countries, such as China, India, Japan, and South Korea. In addition, rising awareness regarding biotechnology-based farming techniques in emerging economies of Asia Pacific region will drive the industry growth over the forecast period.
Europe accounted for a significant share of revenue in 2017 due to high product adoption by major crop producers across European countries including Spain and France on account of favorable weather conditions that enhance plant growth significantly leading to enhanced yield production by plants which results into increased demand for trichoderma-hormone producing products among farmers across Europe country resulting into increased market share during the forecast period.
Growth Factors:
- Increasing demand for bio-based products in the agricultural sector
- Rising awareness about the benefits of Trichoderma viride
- Growing demand for organic farming practices
- Technological advancements in Trichoderma viride cultivation and application methods 5. Increasing research and development activities on Trichoderma viride
