A protein preparation made from the tubercle bacilli, used to determine if a person is infected with tuberculosis.


PPD-S:


PD-1 is a member of the PD-L1 family, which are type I interferons. They are produced by cells of the immune system in response to virus infection and play an important role in initiating and maintaining the antiviral state. The drug works by blocking PD-1 that blocks T cell activation, leading to reduced production of cytokines such as IFN gamma.

PPD RT23:


PPD RT23 is a rapid test used for detection of active TB. It is also known as PPD skin test or PPD antigenic response test. This method can detect latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in the body as well, which may give a false-negative result if performed on another species such as cats and dogs. The sensitivity of this method to detect LTBI varies with different studies; typically it ranges from 60% to 90%.
