UV light is absorbed by the sample and then analyzed using electronic detection or optical detection. The major application areas include environmental testing, clinical/forensic testing, food & beverage processing facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and automotive exhaust systems among others.


The treatment of gas samples before analyzing it with UV light is known as gas treatment or pre-treatment.
