Product Definition:
Upilex is a water-repelling and soil-repelling additive. It is used as a component of sealers, coatings, and adhesives to improve their water and oil repellency.
Thermoplastic Polyimide:
Thermoplastic polyimide (TPI) is a high-performance thermoplastic elastomer with excellent mechanical, thermal and electrical properties. TPI has the ability to be processed like thermoset polymer while maintaining good processability for injection molding, extrusion and blow molding. It also has better dimensional stability than other thermoplastics such as Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) or Polyurethane (PU).
High Temperature Polyimide:
High temperature polyimide (HTPI) is a material with properties similar to that of silicon. It has high thermal conductivity, low electrical resistance and excellent mechanical strength. The finished product consists of long, thin fibers which are wound into a yarn for further processing.
Application Insights:
Aerospace materials was the largest application segment in 2017. The product is used to manufacture aircraft components including primary wing, fuselage, landing gear doors and other parts. Growing demand for upilex-based composites in aerospace applications coupled with growing production of commercial aircraft is expected to drive the market over the forecast period.
