A Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) is a device that helps pump blood from the left ventricle of your heart to the rest of your body. VADs are used to support heart function in people who have weakened hearts and are at risk for cardiac arrest.

RVADs:


RVADs are right ventricular assist devices that are used to help the heart pump blood around the body. RVADs consist of a pump, which is connected by tubing to an oxygen reservoir. The device works along with the right side of the heart and provides support during pumping functions when it is not able to do so itself due to a lack of oxygen or other problems.
