Fully automatic washing machines are those which can wash, rinse, and dry the clothes without any human intervention. Additionally, fully automatic washers are more economical than their semi-automatic counterparts as they do not require expensive sensors or timers to operate.
Semi-Automatic:
Semi-automatic washing appliances are those which can wash and dry the clothes but need some human intervention in between. The most common type of semi-automatic washing machine is the top loaders, as they do not require much human intervention. These machines work on various cycles such as delicate, normal, and heavy cycle depending upon how much water hardness is present in the water supply.
Application Insights:
The residential application segment accounted for the largest share of over 70.0% in 2017. The growth can be attributed to increasing urbanization and rising disposable income levels in developing countries including China, India, Brazil and others. Fully automatic washing machines are preferred by most of the households as they provide convenience while washing clothes on a daily basis as well as on a weekly or monthly basis depending upon the frequency of use.
Semi-automatic washers are primarily used in hotels, hospitals and other commercial buildings where fully automatic washers would not be feasible due to space constraints or because fully automatic machines cannot be installed due to technical limitations such as availability of electricity supply at specific locations within buildings along with other regulatory issues related to safety that may restrict their installation within commercial spaces only.

Asia Pacific is expected to be the largest and fastest-growing regional market over the forecast period.
