Zeta potential analyzers are used for the measurement of surface free energy of a liquid or solid-state material. The surface free energy is dependent on the dipole moment and charges on a particle. In case of hydrophobic particles, the dipole moments cancel out due to charge compensation and in case of hydrophilic particles, the opposite happens; thus resulting in zero net charge on a particle.
