Carboxylic acid based PU can be produced by both synthetic and natural methods. The most commonly used raw materials for producing carboxylic acid based PU are soybean, corn oil, castor oil, wheat bran oils and animal fats.
Sulfonic Acid Type Polyurethane:
Sulfonic acid type polyurethane is a polymer with anionic group. It has high molecular weight and low viscosity. Sulfonic acid type polyurethane can be used as foaming and wetting agents in oil drilling muds, emulsifiers for paints & coatings, plasticizers for rubber products, dispersants in fuel additives and lubricant additives among others.
Application Insights:
Wood coating was the largest application segment in North America and accounted for a revenue share of over 40% in 2017. The product is used as an adhesive to bond wood panels together. It is also used as a coating material to protect against moisture, insects, and other microorganisms.
