Drilling fluid is a mixture of water, chemicals and propelling agents used in the drilling process. The primary function of drilling fluids is to carry cuttings from the drill bit to the surface. These fluids also help lubricate and cool down machinery as well as provide an antibacterial solution for a safe operation at the bottom of boreholes.
Completion Fluid:
Completion fluid is a mud or cuttings suspension used to complete the drilling process. It helps in stabilizing the well by bringing downhole pressure and also aids in cementing perforations, which are then pumped out of the well. Completion fluids can be categorized into two types based on their functions; synthetic and natural completion fluids. Synthetic fluids have higher viscosity as compared to natural ones, thereby providing better stability during drilling operations.
