Product Definition:
O-Xylene is an aromatic hydrocarbon with the molecular formula C6H4(CH3)2. It is a colorless liquid that is slightly soluble in water and has a sweet odor. It is used as a solvent and in the production of plastics, resins, and other chemicals.
Phthalic Anhydride (PAN):
O-Xylene is a colorless liquid that is miscible in water and other organic solvents. It has a strong odor similar to that of gasoline. Alkyd Resins:
Alkyd resins are synthetic thermosetting polymers containing alkyd groups. They are produced by the reaction of a polymer with an alkaline catalyst and contain at least one primary amine group. The most common types of alkyd resins include acrylic, styrene-butadiene, acryloyl, and epoxy resin.
Application Insights:

O-Xylene is used as an additive to improve adhesion, hardness, and glossiness of paints. It is also used as a reactant in the preparation of pigments for use in paints.
