Product Definition:
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a medical imaging technique that uses low-power laser light to generate images of the interior of biological tissues. OCT is used to probe microscopic features of tissues with micrometer resolution, typically in the range from 1 to 3 μm. The name "coherence" refers to the ability of light waves passing through different parts of the sample to remain in step with one another, maintaining their relative phase relationship. This allows interference between the waves emanating from different points in the sample and resulting in a bright image on a detector array placed behind it.

The catheter-based OCT devices are used for the visualization of blood flow in the peripheral arteries.
