Phosphine fumigation is an industrial process used to treat wood or other organic materials for preservation purposes by eliminating moisture content using an adsorbent agent, most commonly activated alumina or silica gel.


Magnesium Phosphide:


Magnesium phosphide is a chemical compound of formula Mg 3 (PO 4) 2. It occurs in nature as the mineral halite, also known as table salt. Magnesium phosphide has an odor similar to that of garlic and tastes like bad eggs.


Application Insights:


Phosphine fumigation is majorly used for soil treatment in warehouses and other non-food storage areas. Phosphine gas has excellent insecticide properties and can be used as a residual insecticide after the stored products are removed from the warehouse. The application of phosphine fumigation reduces the need for re-treatment, increases efficiency, minimizes labor costs and also helps in compliance with hygiene regulations.
