A surfactant and detergent that is a mixture of octoxynol-9 (80%) and nonylphenol (20%). It is used as a nonionic detergent, wetting agent, emulsifier, and dispersing agent.

Laboratory grade is a special type of x-100, which is produced by the controlled crystallization process. It has high purity and thermal stability. The major factor that differentiates it from industrial grade x-100 is its larger particle size (2 microns as compared to 1.5 microns). Also, the production process for laboratory grade involves more control over temperature and pressure conditions which makes the final product purer in nature with higher yield factors than industrial grades.


Industrial Grade:


Industrial grade is a high purity form of the product that has been processed to remove impurities and to concentrate the final product. It is used in Triton X-100 market as an ingredient for manufacturing polyurethane foams. The foam produced from industrial grade triton x-100 has better mechanical properties than retail or consumer grade triton x-100 products.
