An optical divider is a device that splits an input optical signal into two or more output optical signals. Fused biconic tapered splitters (FBT) is a type of optical splitter that uses a special kind of glass, which has two different refractive indexes. As seen in Fig 1., when we make an image with our lens at double angle than normal incidence, it creates an additive combination of colors on screen.
Planar Lightwave Circuit Splitters:
The planar lightwave circuit splitters are the devices that separate a single optical channel into multiple independent channels. It is widely used in optical divider applications. The working principle of this device is based on the use of waveguides to transfer light along different pathways so that it can be recombined at another point, thus creating an independent channel out of a single one.
