Amoco Process:


The amoco process is a continuous hydration reaction between phosgene and crude oil. It was developed by the American Oil Company in 1931, for the production of terephthalic acid (PTA) from crude oil. The process is named after its major components Ammonium Chloride (NH4Cl) and Phosphorous Dichloride (PCI).


Cooxidation:


Cooxidation is a chemical reaction between metal oxide and hydrogen peroxide. The process involves the oxidation of one molecule of water to produce two molecules of hydroxide (H2O2). Cooxidation is used in the production of PTA, which has applications as adhesives, sealants, and coatings.
