The bare metal surface of the second wire is in direct physical contact with the earth or another overhead line conductor.

Copper silver contact wire (CuAg) is a type of electrical conductor used in overhead line conductors for AC and DC power transmission. CuAg wires are made up of two separate insulated wires, one being copper and the other being silver-plated. These two wires are wound around a protective PVC or PE sheath to form an over head cable.
