Product Definition:
Laser distance measurement sensors are used to measure the distance between two points. They work by projecting a laser beam between the points and then measuring the time it takes for the beam to return. This information is used to calculate the distance between the points. Laser distance measurement sensors are important because they can provide accurate measurements in difficult or dangerous environments where other methods of measurement would be difficult or impossible.
≤ 2µm:
It is the wavelength of infrared light. It ranges from 0.78 to 0.95 mm for air, and 1.3 to 1.8 mm for water vapor, with a typical value of about 1mm for dry air (ambient conditions). The shorter the wavelength, the greater is its sensitivity towards molecular vibrations; thus it can measure very small distances accurately even in complete darkness or at extremely high temperatures (up to 400o C).
3~10µm:
3-10um is the range of laser wavelengths. It's used in laser distance measurement sensors market because it has a high transmittance rate and can be used as a reference for other materials to measure the distance between them. The 3-10um range of wavelength is also called as VLF or very low frequency, which can be seen in infrared light.
The most commonly used 3-10um lasers are from helium–neon.
